As they represent The Cooler, The City of
Atlanta, & the This is the 11th consecutive year the Atlanta Fire Peewee Major '97
hockey team has been invited to participate in the annual Quebec
International Peewee Hockey Festival, celebrating its 51th
anniversary from February 11th – 21nd in
More than 200,000 fans will watch 110 teams consisting of 2,300 young
hockey players from 16 different countries compete during the 11-day
tournament. Several of the games will be carried on ESPN Canada. Many NHL
stars have passed through this tournament, including Brad Park, Guy Lafleur, Marcelle Dionne, Gilbert Perrault, Mark Howe,
Wayne Gretsky, Mario Lemieux, Eric Lindros, Patrick Roy, etc. The team will
play (at least) one game in the 27,000 seat COLISEE PEPSI ARENA, and
the players will stay with French-Canadian billet family during the entire
tournament period, creating a sporting and cultural experience that will be
remembered by these boys for a lifetime.
The 16 players on this year's team have worked hard to raise money
towards their travel expenses, running bake sales, selling coupon books, and
50/50 raffles almost every weekend since the beginning of the season.
They are are asking for donations and sponsorships
from the community to support then in fulfilling this exciting
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Any contributions to help towards their expenses will be greatly
